The proposed airport in Antelope Valley, contiguous to Air Force Plant No. 42 near the city of Palmdale, California, is intended to serve the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area as a supplemental facility to the existing Los Angeles International Airport. Acquisition of 17,000 acres will require condemnation of a total of 113 dwelling units, 13 of which have been permanently abandoned. It is estimated that about 950 residences lie within the projected noise exposure zone.
