The conference focused on technical advances within the context of a changing market place for both civil and military avionics. Particular attention was paid to the latest opportunities and threats facing the industry such as; the planned obsolescence of US military standards, off-the-shelf equipment, certification problems for future navigation systems, advanced cockpits, software languages, open system architectures and even the threat posed by in flight passenger entertainment. The proceedings include papers from around the world and will enable all those involved in the avionics industry including operators, procurement staff, manufacturers, maintenance staff, electrical and electronic engineers, designers, certification bodies and consultants to stay in touch, providing them with guidance on and practical examples of projects and technology developments.
