An octane number requirement rating workshop was sponsored by Coordinating Research Council, Inc. May 19-22, 1987, in Phoenix, Arizona. The objective of the workshop was to improve the application of the CRC E-15 Technique for Determination of Octane Number Requirements of Light-Duty Vehicles to provide consistent results with vehicles equipped with knock sensors, turbochargers, and various transmission configurations. Training was accomplished through seminars and demonstrations, and was verified with actual track testing using the E-15 rating technique and appropriate equipment. (JES)
