The report is a summary on the state of the art for the analysis and design of tubular-membered, overhead, highway sign structures. An in-depth literature review is given of the available research reports and design techniques; most of the research deals with tubular membered joints. A review is given on the final designs of a typical set of actual structures employed by the North Carolina Highway Commission. (Author)
