When flying in the clouds or during rainfall there may appear corona or even sparks on the surface of the airplane. As a result, strong statics develop, which increase the probability of hitting the airplane by lightning. In some cases, the aerodynamics of the airplane may be subjected to changes. The electrification of the airplane may distort the results of micro-physical observation of the clouds, particularly the measurement of the atmospheric electricity. This volume is the first attempt to cover the subject in all meteorological aspects. An analysis is given of the static electrification of the airplane and cloud parameters is discussed. Experimental data on electrification in different meteorological conditions are given. (Author)
