The report documents the research and development efforts that were undertaken to design, develop, implement, and validate a haulage truck training system for the surface mining industry. The results of this effort were a complete haul truck training system and an on-board simulator of abnormal conditions, which is used in the haul truck as a training aid to simulate abnormal and emergency conditions. The training system and simulator were validated at three U.S. minesites. The conclusions from these validation efforts were that the system and simulator provide a flexible training system that can be used in diverse mine environments and adapted to various training needs with relative ease.
