The study was made to evaluate from an economic and traffic operation standpoint, the effects of installing a barrier median on a lightly traveled route in a small town. A before, during and after construction, economic analysis of the businesses fronting on the improved roadway is discussed. Comparison is also made with a set of control businesses of the same type as businesses in the study area. Traffic volumes, accidents, irregular vehicle maneuvers, and travel speeds before and after median construction are also reported. (Author)
