Investigations were undertaken to improve APT weather satellite readout stations aboard ship. As a result, improvements were made in packaging and in the antenna system. Five of these terminals have been installed aboard ship and are functioning adequately. However, unless satellite power is increased, further expenditures for the development of these terminals do not appear warranted. Emphasis should instead be placed on improvements in the data processing techniques. (Author)
