The Air Medical Evacuation System (AMES) is a computer-assisted demonstration project to determine the operational capabilities and the cost effectiveness of helicopter rescue and evacuation of persons involved in motor vehicle crashes. In addition AMES is also suited for the rescue and evacuation of persons injured in other than motor vehicle accidents, such as hunting, mountain climbing, water sports, combatting crime, etc. It can also be used for accident prevention and through surveillance or patrol operations.
