The National Transportation Safety Board's (NTSB) Review of U.S. Civil Aviation Accidents, Calendar Year 2010 covers aircraft accidents regulated under Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Parts 121 and 135 as well as general aviation accidents. In total, 1,500 accidents occurred in 2010, involving 1,520 U.S.-registered aircraft. Approximately 18 percent (275) of these accidents were fatal, resulting in 470 fatalities. General aviation accidents accounted for nearly 96 percent of total accidents and about 97 percent of fatal accidents in 2010. Data for the years 20012009 are included to provide historical context for the 2010 statistics.
