Through the cooperation of the U.S. DOT and the Council of State Governments, a conference on State Transportation Issues of the Seventies was held September 28 and 29, 1972, at the Friendship International Inn, in 1973 in Baltimore, Md., to assist the states in meeting their varied transportation problems. Participants at this conference included governors' representatives, state legislators, State Department of Transportation officials, and U.S. Department of Transportation officials. It was the hope of this meeting that better lines of communication would be established between the States and the U.S. DOT, as each endeavored to respond to the transportation needs of the Nation, their State and local communities. This publication reflects a summary of the main ideas and issues discussed during the meeting.
