Properly applied transportability engineering is essential to the deployment of Army equipment. An item of equipment is of little value if it cannot be transported rapidly and efficiently to where it is needed. This pamphlet is a guide to transportability. It is intended for everyone interested in transportability: decision makers, materiel developers, combat developers, equipment designers and user, logisticians, and transporters. It is not designed to make you an instant transportability expert, but to help you understand the Engineering for Transportability program and the various transport modes. Transportability is the inherent capability of materiel units to be efficiently moved by existing or planned transportation assets.
