A possible effect of underwater explosions are malfunctions of shipboard equipment, leading to losses of technical systems. Such losses can lead to losses of relevant technical and tactical abilities of the ship. This report describes how either measured or calculated ship structural responses to underwater explosions can be used to estimate shock damages to shipboard equipment. This would be done by comparing calculated shock spectrums to corresponding design spectrums for vital equipment. Possible losses of technical and tactical abilities can be taken care of by fault tree analysis.
