The Lockheed California Company F104G/MAP airframe was subjected to a full scale fatigue test. The test spectrum consisted of five symmetrical test loadings and one lateral gust loading. The repeated application of these loadings simulated 16,000 hours of service life. At the conclusions of the original test spectrum, a modified spectrum was applied for one additional test lifetime (4000 hours) finally 100 percent limit load cycles of the original test conditions were run on the article until a catastrophic failure occurred. Based on the fatigue spectrum utilized, the F104G/MAP aircraft has a satisfactory fatigue life. (Author)
