The project described in this report consists of the following parts: (1) Prevalence of drink-driving among drivers of heavy vehicles; (2) Accident risk related to drink-driving with heavy vehicles; (3) Possibilities of reducing drink-driving with heavy vehicles by alcolock, and (4) By increased enforcement; (5) Possibilities of implementation of alcolocks for heavy vehicles and for increased enforcement of drink-driving; (6) Cost-benefit ratios for alcolocks and enforcement of drink-driving for heavy vehicles. The project shows that the prevalence of drink-driving is very low, most likely between 0.005 and 0.25 per cent of all driving with such vehicles in Norway. The prevalence of drink-driving among drivers of heavy vehicles involved in fatal accidents is also very low, between 0 and 1.21 per cent. These low prevalances make it impossible to calculate accident risk. The possibilities of reducing drink-driving with heavy vehicles by enforcement and by alcolocks are discussed, and the coal-benefit ratio of these countermeasures is calculated.
