Tensile testing was performed on HY 80 welds containing the specific defects slag, lack of fusion, and incomplete penetration. The tensile properties were correlated with ultrasonic and radiographic evaluation in terms of acceptance criteria of the Naval Ship Systems Command. The results of this work indicate a high degree of confidence for static application for welds evaluated by this criteria. (Author)
