The present manual is intended for the use of transportation agency personnel in charge of maintaining the road network to move traffic efficiently and ensure the safety of the public. The purpose of the manual is to provide simple guidelines to assist agency personnel in identifying situations that pose a hazard to bicyclists, and to suggest some simple solutions to mitigate the hazard. To assist agency personnel in recommending such mitigation strategies, ranges for the cost of these solutions and provided. It should be recognized that these are only approximate values, and that site specific factors may involve either higher or lower values.
