The project proposes reconstruction of 20.5 miles of Colorado State Highway 149 in Rio Grande National Forest from three miles southeast of Wright's lower ranch, approximately 13 miles southwest of Creede, Colorado, to Spring Creek Pass. There will be an increase in the noise level along this highway. There will be some increase in air and water pollution during and after construction. Reconstruction will aid forest management and make the recreation facilities more accessible to the visitor.
