The project has two objectives: to calculate total transport costs in the Nordic countries; and to analyze transport costs and find out to which extent differences between countries can be ascribed to: government regulations (axle loads, taxes, etc); structure of transport demand (distances, average size of transports, etc); and price levels and efficiency within the transport trade, etc. 'Transport cost' in the report is limited to domestic transports. The conclusions are that transport costs as percentage of GNP are highest in Norway for almost all trades. (Copyright (c) Nordisk Ministerrad, Kobenhavn 1989.)
