The investigation was conducted for the purpose of (1) extending the knowledge of the governing flow parameters further into the rarefield flow regime, (2) gaining a further insight of the mechanisms affecting the blunt-body impact pressure behavior, and (3) providing experimental data demonstrating the measurement characteristics of blunt impact pressures probes at low Reynolds numbers and elevated hypersonic Mach numbers.
