Extreme wind shears present a potential hazard to all aircraft flying close to the ground and have been cited as being a contributory factor in some recent major aircraft landing accidents. A great deal of research into wind shear has been undertaken throughout the world and the bibliography is an attempt to compile a list of known published works on the subject of wind shear and its effects on aircraft operations. It supersedes a previous bibliography issued as CAA Paper 76003. The bibliography was compiled by the Civil Aviation Authority Central Library, Bibliographical Services.
