The literature survey is part of the institute's strategy to build up knowledge in the field of intelligent transportation systems (ITS). The study concerns traveler information. Topics include how travelers react to travel time uncertainty and how this should be reflected on the demand side of transport models, by including costs related to travel time variability. On the supply side, unpredictable capacity variations can be modeled. Further, the report looks into how travel time variability and information are analyzed in different models in the literature. A challenge for further research is to develop methods for economic evaluation of the consequences of traveler information, by adapting the theoretical models and at the same time search for new waves of data collection.
