The monograph describes a two day training sequence intended for counselors and interviewers who directly deliver services to black disadvantaged clients. The workshop provides exposure to the experiences of the disadvantaged black client through activities and lecturettes and focuses on developing intervention methods for use in working with this spec client population. Topics covered include the experience of being black, the role of the counselor in behavior change, core competencies for counseling the disadvantaged black client, counseling the shy disadvantaged black client and dealing with discrimination.
