The project under consideration is the Park Freeway and Spur, a 2.7 mile portion of the Milwaukee County Expressway System. The western terminus of this project is at Sherman Boulevard between North Avenue and Meinecke Avenue, and is designed to connect with proposed and existing segments of the Stadium Freeway via the Park Interchange. The extension of the Stadium Freeway to the north has been laid as a State Trunk Highway and an Interstate Highway by the Wisconsin Highway Commission. The freeway will influence the prevailing environmental conditions by imposing a high-type vehicular transportation facility on the area and bringing its inherent, but not intolerable, effects on noise levels and air quality. There are no Section 4(f) lands affected by this project. There are no wildlife concentrations, ecological communities, plant associations, natural streams, bodies of water, historical sites or landmarks known in the project area. Unavoidable Adverse Environmental Effects. The major significant adverse environmental effect which cannot be avoided in the completion of this project is the concentration of air and sound pollution produced by the vehicular traffic in the freeway corridor.
