The presence of vegetation along the roadside often causes problems. Therefore, adjustments to allow for traffic engineering on and around the road in the vegetation along the roadside are needed. From the point of view of traffic engineering the main purpose is to see and to be seen by the different road users, and also sideways effects. From the point of view of the vegetation provisions the points to be considered are where and what should be planted, and the maintenance required. If the designers of traffic and green provisions could have more comprehension of each other's problems regarding observation and perception for traffic and the quality of the growing-point of the vegetation and maintenance of vegetation, problems which exist today and have a negative influence on traffic safety could easily be solved. Cutting down the vegetation or an intensive maintenance of the vegetation is often the only solution. However, the traffic engineering could also be modified. Recommendations are presented to show how easily solutions can be considered which would lead to peaceful coexistence between road safety and vegetation.
