This report announces the conclusions of the EPA evaluation of the 'IDALERTTM' device under provisions of Section 511 of the Motor Vehicle Information and Cost Savings Act. On September 19, 1980, the EPA received a request from Con-Serv, Inc. for evaluation of a fuel saving device termed 'IDALERTTM'. This device is designed to give audible and visual warnings to the vehicle operator that the vehicle engine has been idling for an excessive time period. The objective is to have the operator turn the engine off. EPA fully considered all of the information submitted by the device manufacturer in the application.
