An integral strongbcack design for adapting the LUU-3/B cargo flare to an external rack carriage configuration was successfully demonstrated. This Tactical Fighter Attack Flare (TFAF) is designed for carry at speeds up to Mach 1.2 and altitudes ranging from sea level to 40,000 feet. It can be deployed at speeds up to 550 knots or mach 0.95 at altitude above 4,000 feet. No parts separate from the flare until 3 seconds after deployment when the flare is well clear of the aircraft.
