This AGARDograph concentrates on the flight test instrumentation for determining the flutter behaviour of an aircraft. After a short review of the mechanism of flutter the following items are discussed in some detail: requirements which the type of excitation should obey in order to enable the determination of the flutter characteristics; possible means of excitation; appropriate instrumentation; and data analysis procedures.
