Data reported were obtained from operations at 120 airports in the U.S. and Canada. An examination of present and past experience with noise problems at many of these airports can be beneficial to other airports in avoiding or correcting the same type of problem. The following points are discussed: summary of compatible and incompatible land uses on or around airports; the noise problem; the noise and hazard problem in airport planning; identification of noise areas and obstructions in airport planning; and tabulation of land uses. Names and addresses of airport executives and planners participating in the land use evaluation survey are also provided.
