Orbit determinations for Japanese Earth orbiting satellites used for Earth observation like the Marine Observation Satellite (MOS-1) expected to be launched early in 1987 are discussed. A system was developed to improve processing capability by introducing semiautomatic processing functions, as well as the system accuracy. Tests with one laser ranging site using the geodetic payload on TF-1 satellite show decimeter accuracy and orbital elements in good agreement with NASA's. Semiautomatic performance are excellent.
