The wind frequency response of several unguided rockets was studied using data collected by simultaneous releases of a jimsphere and a standard 100 gm balloon. Results show there can be large differences in the predicted rocket impacts using the two balloons. High wind frequencies are shown to affect the rocket only to a small degree and can be ignored in real-time rocket impact prediction applications. Averaging winds over a fifty-foot layer gives results comparable to the best Fourier smooth and binomial filter. (Author)
