A combined thermal vacuum/thermal balance test performed at a German environmental test facility on the tethered satellite is described. A protoflight test approach was applied. Optimization in terms of test duration regarding its effectiveness was attempted. The best method for the simulation of the Earth infrared/albedo effect on the satellite was evaluated. A special adapter was designed and manufactured to hold the satellite inside the thermal chamber. All these peculiarities of the test are detailed.
