The report describes the construction of the research vessel to be used for Fort Peck Reservoir fishery studies. The vessel affords a pilot house with protection from foul weather for a 4-man crew, a dry storage area forward of the pilot house, a marine toilet, and a large, rear deck work area. The general dimensions are: Length - 35 feet; Beam - 11 feet; Draft (loaded) - 40 inch maximum; Weight (light) - 8,500 pounds; and Displacement tonnage - about 10 tons. The vessel was constructed of aluminum sheeting over a plywood hull and powered by a V-6 diesel engine driving a Berkeley jet pump. The vessel was delivered in August 1966 by the Stan craft corporation of Polson, Montana. The accompanying pictures show the vessel at the dock and on the reservoir with Fort Peck Dam in the background. (Modified author abstract)
