FAA funded ATC Surveillance/Communication Analysis and Planning activities during the period 1 March to 31 May 1972 are reported. Radar design criteria for enhanced surveillance data continuity are discussed. Particular emphasis is given to the use of Doppler derived aircraft velocity to prevent track swapping at track intersections and to the attributes required of an optimum signal processor. Initial phases of test planning and investigations of the problems related to switched airborne antennas are described. (Author)
