Chile--with its open trade system and its healthy economy--offers U.S. manufacturers of avionics and ground support equipment a broad range of market opportunities. Chile has the third largest air transport network in Latin America after Brazil and Argentina. In general, the aviation field in Chile is fairly well developed and enjoys a good reputation for safety. Although Chilean airports are well maintained, they need refitting with modern technological systems soon if they are to keep pace with the growing transport demands of Chile's fast-moving economy.
