The Hawaii Army National Guard needs an increase in manning of about 500 soldiers to support the State of Hawaii and the nation in the time of need. The Hawaii Army National Guard has current authorized end strength of 2,826. The Hawaii Army National Guard is well above its authorized end strength. They are currently at 2,904 soldiers in Hawaii Army National Guard which puts them at 102% of their assigned mission. If the Hawaii Army National Guard does not get an increase in authorized end strength the Hawaii Army National Guard will not be able to support its federal and state mission. The state of Louisiana during hurricane Katrina has proven that the Army National Guard will not be able to support both a federal mission on the Global World of Terror and a state natural disaster.
