The operational evaluation of NEMO (Naval Experimental Manned Observatory), an acrylic-hulled subersible, is reported. The objectives of the program were to determine the benefits of the panoramic visibility afforded by transparent acrylic plastic hull, to evaluate the overall design and modes of operation of NEMO, and to judge the potential application of NEMO-type vehicles to the Navy's oceanographic and ocean engineering needs.
