The approach and results relevant to be the following concepts are summarized: rocket launchers using wing lift for recovery; airbreathers, with varying amount of rocket propulsion complement; winged upper stages, like the Hermes Spaceplane. Studies in air assisted satellite launchers take strength from recent developments like the Ariane launcher and Hermes Spaceplane and connected studies of hypersonic cruise airplane and high supersonic ramjet missiles.
