The project involves installing Runway End Identifier Lighting Systems (REILS), drainage cluverts in runway safety areas, security fencing and relocation of the existing airfield lighting vault in Fairfield County, Connecticut. The proposed (REILS) installation on Runway 8-26 thresholds will not increase the number of night overflights of populated areas nor subject any additional homes to aircraft noise than is now existing. The installation of shields or baffles on the stroke light fixture will preclude any annoying effect on the existing homes in the approach to Runway 26. The proposed lighting project is not expected to alter the pattern or behavior of wildlife species or the natural aesthetics of the site, have no effect on the ambient air and water pollution, the existing recreational areas, or public parks, the water table and significant wildlife breeding, nesting or feeding grounds.
