The XM1 life cycle cost model computes the maintenance costs incurred during the operational phase of a fleet of vehicles. The model is general in nature and can be used to model other vehicle systems besides the XM1 tank system. The computer program representing the model is written in the FORTRAN IV programming language and is implemented on the GSA/Atlanta GE/Honeywell 440 interactive computer system. The model treats basically three types of costs: On-vehicle maintenance, Off-vehicle maintenance, and Scheduled vehicle overhaul. In addition, the model has the capability of vehicle phase-in and phase-out policies to accurately depict fleet age maturity.
