Shuttle mission 51-L launched an interactive promotion of education direct from space. Emphasis on use of actual video scenes of space mission and astronomical phenomena are encouraged as tools in the classroom. Observation and prediction of Earth satellite passages foster space awareness and stimulating student interest. The spaceborne part of 51-L, teacher in space, was a victim of the Challenger disaster.
