This pamphlet provides a summary of the 1995 Status of the Nation's Surface Transportation System: Condition and Performance Report to Congress (C&P Report). It is the latest in a series of biennial reports that track changes of capital investment required from all sources to meet specified levels of system performance in future years. The current report combines information about our highway, bridge, transit, and maritime systems. This report is the second in the C&P Report series that combines documents satisfying statutory requirements for the Department of Transportation to provide Congress with information on the condition, performance, and capital investment requirements of the Nation's highway and transit systems. For the first time in the report series history, information is provided on maritime infrastructure. Maritime reports are not, however, statutorily required.
