On Januart 14, 1998, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) received a request from the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, on behalf of local M-300 of the Aurora Casket Co. in Aurora, Indiana. The union asked NIOSH to evlaute concerns that repetitive motion injuries and other musculoskeletal disorders may increase with the introduction of a new production method in the sewing and interior parts manufacturing departments.
