A description is given of IFFSH, Instrument Formation Flight System for helicopters, which is under development by TRG for the Avionics Branch of ECOM to provide both manual and automatic rendezvous and formation flight among 32 helicopters under IFR conditions. The Semi-Automatic Flight Operations Center, SAFOC, will have the capability of performing enroute traffic regulation for about 100 flights. This can represent a much greater number (from 300-600) of aircraft under situations where formation flying is employed.
