Future research in aeronautics is determined by the limited energy resources, environmental aspects, and increasing traffic congestion. Instead of continuing to increase the velocity potential, research topics are now aimed at decreasing operational costs, increasing reliability, and increasing compatibility with the environment. Economical and ecological considerations dictate further development far more than technical possibilities. (Author)
