To make public transport more attractive and to improve its efficiency, it is necessary to limit the irregularities caused by other road users. Priority for trams and buses at traffic signals can limit such irregularities by decreasing the waiting time. The traffic concentration, in the same direction as the tram or bus is travelling, as well as of the crossing traffic, the location of the stops, the number of lanes etc are factors which should be taken into account. The interests of other road users are also of importance.
