The Ministry of the Maritime Fleet designed several cargo-handling machines. The new MVSH-1 wagon machine is battery and hydraulically operated and has a number of grasping devices. A free back wheel furnishes extra maneuverability. The MVS-3 machine has caterpillar treads and a chute to facilitate bulk cargo-handling. Scoops are run by a screw arrangement. These machines reduce manual labor and man-hours in cargo-handling, and also save time formerly consumed by freight cars standing idle. (Author)
