The causes and prevention of tractor overturning accidents on slopes were reviewed with reference to case studies. The majority of overturning accidents are due either to stability loss, when the tractor overturns directly, or to control loss, when the tractor slips out of control before overturning. A number of overturning accidents are described, and the reasons for stability or control loss are explained using polar diagrams. Means of preventing tractor overturning accidents are proposed.
