This report is intended as a general set of guidelines for the planning and design of bus terminals and bus stations in Southern Africa. The guidelines cover a wide range of topics, from advanced concepts to elementary notions and are set out to aid not only the planner and designer but also those who maybe less technically minded and who, nevertheless, have to initiate or guide bus terminal and bus station development or to operate such facilities. Most literature previously available was based on overseas operations and extensive investigations and consultations were made throughout Southern Africa in order to make these guidelines practical locally.
