The SPOT 4 satellite to extend the high resolution mission through the addition of a new band in the middle infrared region and to extend the life duration is reported. This satellite will embark new passengers and function mainly as a terminal to experiment optical link between a low orbiting satellite (SPOT) and a geostationary satellite. Very high resolution and along track stereoscopic mission are under development, beyond SPOT 4, to satisfy the user needs to maintain and to improve the continuity of the SPOT services.
